Aloft Richmond VA

Monday found us taking a small load to Richmond VA. While searching Orbitz for a motel, I spotted an Aloft. Aloft is a Starwood property, a division of W. A funky fun motel that while being more upscale definitely does love pets. That is actually what made me reserve here- I knew Bear would be treated like a star. As we got to our room on the third floor, we noticed a nest, fancy doggie dinner service, placemat and bag of treats in the hall by our door. Bear was in awe. After settling in we ordered dinner sent up, (a large selection of appetizers), and explored the motel. It was so hot in VA that we waited until dusk to take our walk. The area we stayed in was called West Broad Village and it is like a whole town being built. Expensive apartments and townhomes (designed to look like brownstones) , high end storefronts waiting for occupants, and a Whole Foods. The weird part was that it was like a ghost town since nothing was occupied yet except for Whole Foods. We enjoyed our walk for about an hour, then headed back to the Aloft to watch some tv before sleep and let Bear enjoy a treat.
